Wenger Photos Here Jane Wenger Photographs, approximately 30 photographs by the Chicago-based artist Jane Wenger, constitute a mini-retrospective of her last nine years’ work. They will be on view in the Photography Gallery August 20 through October 18. The selections begin with early “lyrical nudes,” seldom, if ever, seen in the Midwest, and continue with six to eight examples from her four best known series: the men, the self portraits, the bald heads and the faces.

Wenger has consistently utilized the human body as the subject of her photography. Her images are captured in a tension which is powerfully suggestive of energy and even violence. The Wenger exhibition, including work featured recently in a solo exhibition at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art, is organized by the Milwaukee Art Museum.
